At No One Size Child & Youth Therapy we believe there is no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ approach to supporting Children and Young People.

 

James is an experienced child & youth psychotherapist (social worker) who offers a friendly, relationship-based approach that is fully tailored to suit each child or young person (age 5-18). James works by taking into account each individual’s personal challenges, stage of development, interests, wishes, personality, strengths and life circumstances.

Sessions are offered in-person in Broadford 3658 and Essendon 3040 VIC.

Children’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Therapy/Counselling

For children aged 5-11. Available in-person in Broadford & Essendon.

Including:

  • Therapeutic sessions with the child

  • Therapeutic sessions may include talk based, play based & activity-based approaches

  • Parent Sessions focussed on understanding and discussing the needs and challenges of the child and discussing possible ways forward

Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing Therapy/Counselling

For young people aged 12-18. Available in-person in Broadford & Essendon.

Including:

  • Therapeutic sessions with the Young Person

  • Therapeutic sessions may include talk based & activity-based approaches

  • Option for parent sessions if both the young person and the parents are supportive of this

Social Work Therapeutic Support For eligible self or plan managed NDIS Participant Children & Young People aged 9-18.

Therapeutic support in line with the goals of your NDIS plan: particularly in relation to Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living Skills. Billed under line item 15_621_0128_1_3. 

Including:

  • Therapeutic sessions with the child

  • Therapeutic sessions may include…..Talk based, play based & activity-based approaches

  • Parent Sessions (where appropriate)

  • Psychosocial assessments, training & recommendations

  • Communication with the child's care team & parents

 Expressions of Interest Open: Cooking to Confidence Program

Our Cooking to Confidence small group program combines practical fun cooking and baking activities with counselling aimed to help build confidence and executive functioning skills in children and young people aged 10-13.

Over 7 sessions (one session per week over 7 weeks) participants will build their confidence, capability and connection with others though cooking. Including a focus on the executive functioning skills of working memory, self-regulation and cognitive flexibility​. Groups will run in the case of sufficiant intrest.

James is an experienced therapist with the following qualifications, training, experience & professional memberships:

  • Master of Social Work – Deakin University

  • Bachelor of Youth Work, with a minor in counselling – Australian Catholic University

  • Diploma in Youth Work – Australian Catholic University

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASSIST)

  • Over 12 Years experience working with children and young people- Including 7 years in counselling roles

  • Australian Association of Social Wokers Member (No.700036)

  • Working towards MHSW accreditation
